摘要:
It was known in 1600s that a cube contains a hole that is large enough for its copy to pass through. In 1700s, Niewland asked a refined question: whether a polytope contains a hole that can be passed through by a scaled copy of the polytope. The largest possible scalar is called the Niewland constant. So far, we only know the exact value of the Niewland constants for two polytopes: the cube and the Noperthedron. In this talk, I will discuss a method to calculate the Niewland constants in general.

向子卿,南方科技大学数学系兼深圳国家应用数学中心副教授、博士生导师,国家级青年人才,2022年国际组合数学及其应用协会Kirkman奖章获得者。他于2014年本科毕业于上海交通大学,2019年获得美国佐治亚大学数学博士学位。他的研究兴趣主要集中在代数组合和表示论,研究成果发表在Advances in Mathematics、Journal of Combinatorial Theory A、Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics、Transformation Groups等期刊上。
